Setting up Self-Managed Allotments part 2
An Art Gene Design Cafe Event - Wednesday 16th November 2011 6.00pm for 6.30pm.
Guest speaker: Julian Smith, Operations Manager, Groundwork NE
Come and discuss the progress following our initial meeting and the response from Barrow Borough Council. Talk with others interested in developing their own self-managed allotment group from 6.00pm.

At Art Gene in the Nan Tait Centre on Abbey Road, Barrow-in-Furness.
All Art Gene spaces are fully accessible.

An Art Gene Design Cafe event
A Public meeting to discuss opportunities around self-managed allotments. Thursday 21st July from 6pm.
Following the recent trip to a prize winning self-managed allotment group in Eccles, Art Gene would like to invite you to an evening of discussion and refreshments. Come and hear what we found out and why we are so excited about the things we discovered!
This will be of particular interest to those who are considering the option of self managed allotments and those on allotment waiting lists.
Join us at 6pm for a free buffet and refreshments followed by informal discussion from 7pm.

FREE trip to award winning allotments
Are you waiting for an allotment? Are you interested in finding out about what it takes to set up a self-managed allotment group in your community? This is your chance to join a trip to a prize-winning allotment group. The founders of the allotments will be there to answer your questions about how they started and what it took to succeed. They will also show us around the site where we will meet with other allotment holders. Tindall Street is the first allotment site in the north of England to receive The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and The Green Pennant Award for high quality green spaces in England.

Disabled Facilities: Some parts of Tindall Street Allotments are accessible by wheelchair but this is not the case for the tour element of the trip.

Wastelands or Wildflower Meadows?
A free Design Café minibus day trip to The National Wildflower Centre, Liverpool, Saturday 11th June, departing Barrow at 10 am returning at 5.30 pm.
The award winning National Wildflower Centre showcases wild flowers in their natural environment promoting the creation of new wildflower habitats.
The day trip will take you to see the centre in the spectacular 35 acre Victorian Court Hey Park, approximately 5 miles from Liverpool city centre.
The aim is to have lunch at the cafe on arrival, bring your own packed lunch or purchase a lunch at a very reasonable price from the cafe. Gill Watson, a senior member of staff, will be available to answer your questions and pass on planting tips.
