Confidence Building course at CVS

Thursday 16 June 2011 at Cumbria CVS, Lesser Kings Hall, Hartington Street, Barrow, LA14 5SR from 9am – 1pm. Trainer: Jennie Sutton (Enabling Success)

By the end of this session you will have:
• defined confidence and self-esteem
• measured your own confidence and self esteem level
• discussed benefits of being more confident and having a higher opinion of yourself
• understood the consequence of negative thoughts and how to overcome them
• identified barriers to being confident
• devised a way to measure confidence levels

Cumbria CVS Local Forum - Tuesday 14 June

Tuesday 14 June 2011 12.30pm – 2pm at The Dock Museum, North Road, Barrow.

This is an invitation to all Third Sector groups active in South Lakes and Barrow. The Local Forum is important to anyone interested in finding out about local issues and working with other groups and organisations to find local solutions.

The Forum is a useful link with your Local Strategic Partnership and with Cumbria CVS. It will help keep you informed and ensure that your views are properly represented. It is your opportunity to let Cumbria CVS know how you feel about our services, and make suggestions of ways they could be working with you.

Love Learning – Saturday 14 May 2011 – the forum, Barrow

FREE EVENT - An occasion to celebrate learning and invite everyone in the town to experience the variety and quality of learning on offer in Barrow.

The benefits for learning providers involved in the event might include;
- Awareness raising
- Opportunity to showcase activities
- Provide tasters to ‘hook in’ new learners
- Contact with potentially difficult to reach groups

Exhibitor places will be free and allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Interactive displays and presentations will be particularly welcome.

The programme of activities originally planned for CLAF will be largely completed at the end of March 2011. The level of interest shown in the Forum over the last nine months has been encouraging and a dialogue is underway to find ways and means of sustaining its presence. Future Forum meetings will, however, be dependant on the outcome of these discussions.

We look forward, nevertheless, to seeing you next Friday (25th) for what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable get together. By all means pass on this mailing to anyone else you think might be interested.

Woodland Walks in Furness

Barrow Borough Council has funded a short programme of monthly woodland walks in the Furness area. There will be six excursions to woodland sites a short journey out from Barrow.

Gain a Certificate in English - FREE

Do you need a qualification in English?

Do you need to help adults or children with their homework?

Do you need to brush-up on your English skills for work?

Come along and gain these skills.

This FREE course will cover various aspects of English, such as: spelling, punctuation, reading and different types of text, useful for the workplace as well as helping others - including adults & children.

VARIOUS ABILITIES WELCOME - Individual needs based; covering up to and including level 2.

*You will need to have lived in this country or the EU for at least the last 3 years and be 19 years of age or over. This course is for people who are volunteers or working.

Starting every Thursday 13 January 2011 until 19 May 2011 (excluding college holidays) from 9.45am-11.45am.
