Junior Wardens - achieve and inspire.

Central and Hinpdool Junior Wardens were presented with their John Muir Discovery Award and ASDAN Activities Award certificates at a presentation evening at the Forum recently.

16 young people have worked on community and environmental projects to successfully complete the two awards.

Over 50 people attended the presentation event to congratulate the young people on thier achievements.

Th evening also saw the first showing of the Junior Wardens film which can be viewed at the following link http://vimeo.com/17218427

The film was a collaboration between Central and Hindpool Junior Wardens and Neighbourhood Wardens, Green Heart Den community garden and was professionally finished by Morph Films of Lancaster. The funding for the film came for the Our Green Spaces element of Green Heart Den's project.

After entering the auditorium down the red carpet the young people recieved their John Muir Awards from the Mayor and Mayoress of Barrow.

The second certificate presentation to the young people, their ASDAN Activities Award, was made by Jamie Rooney and Liam Harrison from Barrow Raiders Rugby League team. The young people were delighted to meet both the local dignataries and local sporting celebrities.

Thanks for the success of the Junior Wardens project must go to Andy, Paul and Phil who organise the sessions and activities with the young people and also to a great friend of the project Graham Bromley from Green Heart Den. Last but not least the young people have been fantastic throughout and we all look forward to working with them over the coming months as they add to their achievements and prove an inspiration to us all.

For further information about the Junior Warden project please contact Andy High on 01229 876546 or at ahigh@barrowbc.gov.uk.
