YISP along with NewkesUK Ltd have secured funding from the Cumbria Community Foundation for delivery of the Sports Leader UK, Young Leader Award to 50 young people aged between 9 and 13 years.
The Young Leader Award is a programme of leadership training for young people between the ages of 9 and 13 that promotes working with younger children, teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities. The Young Leader Award teaches key skills such as leadership, team-building, peer-mentoring as well as meeting most of the ECM criteria. Through sport, young people can develop a lot of life-skills whilst gaining confidence in a familiar environment.
