This January Signal Films and budding young filmmakers will be staging the first film competition for young people in Barrow, where 13 to 18 year olds will have the unique opportunity to enter their own films in a competition judged by industry professionals.
The film competition is part of the MediaShip: Furness Youth Film Festival 2011, a two day media event programmed and organised by a committee of local young people to provide fun and engaging media opportunities for young film enthusiasts in Barrow, identifying a need in the community for our generation.
This is a chance for any young people who’ve made a film to get it seen on the big screen and by an audience. All films are welcome - from a 30 second film made on your mobile phone to a 10 minute Hollywood-style production! We want to see them all!

The festival itself takes place on 28th & 29th January at The Forum and the Film Competition Awards Ceremony and Screening will take place at 3.30pm on Saturday 29 January.
Come along to the festival and try out a variety of events including screenings; workshops such as camera, animation and make-up; Q&A panels; and networking opportunities.
